Stop Mahama from ousting CJ – Minority to Chiefs, Clergy

The Minority in Parliament has urged religious and traditional leaders to advise President John Dramani Mahama. They want him to suspend efforts to remove Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

The caucus claims the petitions for her removal are unfounded. They believe these petitions do not meet constitutional requirements.

At an emergency press conference on April 16, John Darko spoke for the Minority. He is the Legal Counsel and MP for Suame. He mentioned that sources indicated the petitions are baseless.

Darko called on traditional and religious leaders to intervene now. He said, “We should not wait until it’s too late.”

He warned against accepting frivolous petitions. Such actions could harm Ghana's democratic institutions. Darko questioned how any serious country could entertain such loose petitions.
