The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather warning. A moderate rainstorm is expected today, Monday, May 20. The storm will occur between 2:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
The storm system is moving westward from Benin and Togo. It will likely affect coastal, middle, transition, and northern regions of Ghana. Expect increased cloudiness, thunderstorms, and rainfall.
Gusty winds may precede the storms. This could lead to poor visibility and flash flooding in low-lying areas.
Here are the affected areas and times:
- Volta, Oti, Eastern, and Northern regions: 2:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Aflao, Keta, Ada, and nearby towns: 3:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
- Western, Western North, Ashanti, Bono East, Upper West, and Savannah regions: 4:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
- Greater Accra (Tema, Ashaiman, Accra, Madina): 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Residents in flood-prone or low-lying areas should take precautions to protect life and property.
GMet also warned about dangerous driving conditions during the storm. Poor visibility and slippery roads are expected.
