A new strategy document was launched in Accra last Thursday.
This document aims to improve gender equality in Ghana’s media. It was developed by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) and Canal France International (CFI). Both organizations focus on media development.
The strategy is part of the “Equal Voices – Promoting Gender Equality in the Media” project. It seeks to make Ghanaian media a leader in gender equity. The goal is to remove barriers that limit women's representation in the industry.
The document includes key recommendations. These include increasing women in leadership roles and achieving gender parity in media content. It also suggests implementing gender-sensitive workplace policies and enhancing capacity for gender advocacy. Finally, it calls for collaboration among multiple stakeholders to promote progress over the next 18 months.
