Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine responded to former Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame. Dame suggested that President Mahama should stop consultations about removing the Chief Justice. Dr. Ayine disagreed, stating this goes against the law.
He explained that one cannot prevent a constitutional duty from being performed. This statement came after a recent adjournment of a lawsuit regarding the Chief Justice's removal.
During an interview with JoyNews' Latif Iddrisu, Dr. Ayine emphasized that the president's consultation is part of his constitutional responsibilities. Therefore, it cannot be halted.
The panel chair, Her Ladyship Henrietta Mensah Bonsu, announced a brief ruling. She stated they would need to adjourn until May 6 for unavoidable reasons.
The five-member panel includes Justices Ernest Yao Gaewu, Richard Adjei-Frimpong, and Samuel Kwame Adibu-Asiedu. The absence of one Justice likely caused this case's adjournment.
