Sulemana Braimah, Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), has linked the recent Obuasi killings to Ghana's political structure, which he says fosters a deep sense of entitlement.
Speaking on JoyNews' Newsfile, Braimah criticized the growing culture of power being seen as a tool for personal and partisan gain.
He pointed out that this entitlement mentality fuels unrest, seen in violent protests and clashes when expectations of political appointments are unmet.
The violence in Obuasi, which involved illegal miners clashing with soldiers, highlights the destructive consequences of this mindset.
Braimah also blamed political leaders for making unrealistic campaign promises, leading to public frustration.
The government has ordered an investigation into the incident, promising swift action once the facts are established.
