The Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah, has criticized the ministerial vetting process, arguing that it prioritizes past political statements over nominees’ competence.
Speaking on Joy FM, he noted that questioning often revolves around past remarks rather than qualifications and experience.
He cited the vetting of Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George, where opposition MPs focused on their criticisms of former President Akufo-Addo.
Braimah urged the committee to shift its focus to critical national and global issues affecting governance.
He also questioned whether criticizing a former president should disqualify a nominee, calling for a more issue-based approach to ministerial scrutiny.
