The Supreme Court has dismissed an application from Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo. She sought to stop her suspension and impeachment proceedings.
On Tuesday, a five-member panel made a unanimous decision. The panel was led by Acting Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie. They ruled that the application had no merit and dismissed it.
Justice Torkornoo wanted the court to pause the impeachment process. She also requested a halt to her suspension until her case is resolved. In her case, she challenges the constitutionality of the impeachment proceedings against her.
This ruling allows the impeachment process to continue despite her legal challenge.
