The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on a request to stop the process for removing the Chief Justice.
This adjournment happened because the Attorney General was absent. He had asked for a break in all cases from April 7 to April 10 due to a training program for state attorneys.
Two state attorneys, including a former assistant to Attorney General Godfred Dame, attended the court. They formally requested an adjournment.
Godfred Yeboah Dame, representing plaintiff Vincent Ekow Asafuah, was surprised by the absence of Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine and his deputy, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai. He noted their absence was unexpected despite the training.
Dame asked for the case to be rescheduled for Monday, April 14.
The plaintiff is challenging whether it was constitutional for the President to consult the Council of State about petitions against the Chief Justice. The argument is that the Chief Justice should have been consulted first.
Justice Henrietta Mensah Bonsu ruled for an indefinite adjournment. The case will remain pending until a new date is set.
