A 2024 survey found that Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum was the preferred running mate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over Dr. Mathew Opoku-Prempeh (NAPO).

Released post-election on February 26, 2025, the report suggests Adutwum’s selection could have strengthened the NPP’s campaign.

Conducted by KNUST’s Historical Society and Political Science Association, the study showed Adutwum leading with 53.14%, followed by NAPO (32.24%), Bryan Acheampong (6.21%), Frema Opare (5.06%), and Naa Torshie Addo (3.35%).

The findings were withheld to avoid disrupting NPP’s strategy, as their final choice differed.

With 1,402 respondents, the study underscores the need for political parties to align candidate selection with voter expectations for electoral success.
