Suspect in GH₵1.3m Momo robbery remanded by Nalerigu court

A district court in Nalerigu, North East Region, has remanded Waliu Fazazi. He is a suspect in a mobile money robbery case. Fazazi will remain in police custody to assist with investigations.

He appeared in court on Friday, April 25, 2025. This followed a robbery that occurred on April 23, 2025, at Bunkpurugu. Police reports state that Fazazi worked with others who are still at large.

They attacked a mobile money vendor and stole GH₵1,300,000.00. Investigations show that Fazazi approached the vendor pretending to withdraw GH₵15,000.00. He claimed it was sent by his brother but delayed due to network issues.

During the transaction, two masked men appeared suddenly. One of them was armed and demanded the vendor's bag of cash. The assailants fired warning shots before escaping on a motorbike.

After his court appearance, Fazazi was remanded until May 9, 2025. Investigations are ongoing into the robbery case. The police urge the public to provide information about the remaining suspects at large.
