The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect. This is in connection with the assault on JoyNews journalist Latif Iddrisu.
On May 27, 2025, at about 7:00 p.m., a protest took place. A group of individuals, including some MPs and NPP supporters, demonstrated outside the EOCO Office in Accra. They were protesting the arrest of Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi.
During the protest, Mr. Iddrisu was covering the event for JoyNews. He was confronted and assaulted by some demonstrators.
On June 7, 2025, at about 5:00 p.m., police arrested Theophilus Thompson, aged 55. He was apprehended in James Town for his role in the assault.
The suspect is currently in custody and assisting with the investigation. Police are working to identify and arrest others involved in the incident.
