Solomon Siaw Tetteh has been arrested. He is the alleged leader of a carjacking gang in the Krobo area. Police had placed him on their wanted list for multiple car thefts.
Last week, Tetteh nearly escaped arrest. Police ambushed his home in Nuaso, a suburb of Odumase. During that operation, they arrested three of his accomplices.
On Sunday, May 18, police gathered intelligence and located Tetteh at another hideout in Nuaso. This area is in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region. He and his gang are accused of stealing vehicles from Nkurakan, Asesewa, Somanya, and Ada Magazine.
The stolen vehicles were reportedly dismantled and turned into coal pots. While transporting Tetteh to Koforidua Divisional Police Headquarters, officers changed their route. They avoided the Nkurakan-Asaman road due to a youth group blocking it.
This group intended to lynch Tetteh for his alleged thefts in the area. At the police station, he was displayed alongside several stolen vehicles and tricycles. Despite this evidence, he denied all charges even with victims present.
Police stated that investigations are ongoing. They are also working to apprehend other individuals linked to this case. Once investigations conclude, Tetteh will be brought before the court.
