Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, MP for Ofoase Ayirebi, has criticized the government. He pointed out inconsistencies in handling the ‘suspicious flights’ allegations. He believes these contradictory responses increase the controversy.
The issue started when Rev John Ntim Fordjour made allegations. He claimed certain flights at Kotoka International Airport were transporting drugs and money. President John Dramani Mahama then directed national security agencies to investigate these claims.
However, government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu contradicted the President's directive. He dismissed the allegations as baseless and stated no illegal activity was found on those flights.
On Channel One TV’s The Point of View, Nkrumah questioned these conflicting messages. He noted that the communications minister dismissed the need for an investigation. The minister labeled the concerns as “bogus” and suggested scapegoating Rev Fordjour.
Nkrumah expressed that this shifting position raises concerns about transparency. It also highlights issues with internal coherence on sensitive national security matters. Meanwhile, Minority members in Parliament blocked an attempt to arrest Rev Fordjour related to these allegations.
