Suspicious flights: Ntim Fordjour's claims require probe, not insults - Kow Essuman to Kwakye Ofosu

Kow Essuman, former Legal Advisor to ex-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has spoken out. He called for a careful and clear response to allegations of suspicious flights and money laundering. These claims were made by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee. Essuman shared his thoughts on his official X account on Sunday, April 6.

He criticized the Government Communications Minister for using personal insults. The minister reportedly referred to Ntim Fordjour as a “clown.”

Essuman stated that when an Opposition MP raises serious allegations, name-calling is inappropriate. He emphasized that these claims deserve a transparent investigation. It is crucial for the right people to address these issues.

He reminded everyone of Ghana’s past problems with financial integrity during President John Mahama's time. Significant gaps in Ghana’s anti-money laundering framework were identified then.

As a result, Ghana was placed on international lists highlighting countries with deficiencies in anti-money laundering efforts. Essuman stressed that maturity and due process should take precedence over political attacks.

He urged restraint and called for relevant institutions to conduct proper investigations. This approach would help verify or dispel the claims made without undermining public trust through dismissive rhetoric.
