Suspicious flights: We expected gov’t to rather commend Ntim Fordjour - Kodua Frimpong

Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), criticized the government. He condemned their treatment of MP Rev. John Ntim Fordjour.

This criticism followed an incident where NIB operatives attempted to arrest Rev. Fordjour at his home.

Kodua argued that the government should commend the MP instead. He believes this situation shows a disregard for due process.

“Has he committed any crime? No,” he stated. “We expect the government to commend him.”

Speaking to the media, Mr. Kodua stressed that Ghana follows the rule of law. He said procedures for questioning MPs must be respected.

“We are governed by law, not by men,” he noted. The Constitution outlines how security agencies can invite MPs.

He questioned whether proper procedures were followed in this case. “Absolutely not,” he asserted.

Kodua expressed disappointment over how the situation was handled. He called it “needless and unwarranted.”

He insisted that if the government acted in good faith, they would have notified Parliament's Speaker first about inviting Ntim Fordjour for questioning, as required by law.
