Sweeping Trump tariffs: Ablakwa summons US Ambassador

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has invited the US Ambassador to Ghana. Her Excellency Virginia Palmer will meet him for discussions. The meeting is set for Monday morning.

The purpose of the invitation is to seek clarification on a new tariff. This 10% tariff was imposed by the US government. It was decided by former President Donald Trump.

Minister Ablakwa shared this information in a Facebook post on April 4, 2024. Concerns have been raised about how this tariff will affect trade relations with the US.

Ablakwa emphasized that the government aims to protect Ghana's economic interests. They plan to engage diplomatically to resolve this issue.

Details of the meeting will be shared after discussions between the Minister and Ambassador Palmer.
