Four people were arrested in a cocaine bust at Kotoka International Airport. They have been remanded in custody.
The suspects are Gariba Soli, an artefact dealer, and three freight forwarders: Josiah Baidoo, Emmanuel Mintah, and Kwabena Ampfo Anti. They allegedly tried to export 73 slabs of cocaine without a license.
The charges include attempting to export a narcotic substance and conspiracy. They also face possession of a narcotic substance without a license.
During a routine inspection at the Swiss port, officers found three wooden boxes labeled as artefacts. A closer look revealed 73 slabs of powdered substances that tested positive for cocaine.
Gariba Soli claimed he was hired by someone named Patrick to export artefacts to the Netherlands. He stated that the items were indeed artefacts when sent on April 14. However, he was called on April 23 for an inspection that uncovered the cocaine.
