TAF College pursues transformation of jobless youth into entrepreneurs

The African Freelancers (TAF) College in Accra held its 2025 matriculation. The event welcomed a new group of students. These students include unemployed youths, school dropouts, young single mothers, and former illegal miners. TAF College aims to transform them into skilled entrepreneurs.

TAF College is a tuition-free applied business school. It focuses on empowering unemployed youth across West Africa. This year, 60 students completed an eight-week training program. They learned soft business skills like leadership and problem-solving.

Next, they will receive specialized training in various fields. These include graphic design, cinematography, digital marketing, fashion design, and cosmetology.

TAF College's programs are supported by donations from various sources. Philanthropists and corporate partners help provide education for underprivileged youth. Students come from Ghana and neighboring countries like Cameroon and Nigeria.

Rev. Johnnie Oquaye is the Founder and President of TAF College. He announced new initiatives to expand training at the school. The fashion design program will add 10 new industrial sewing machines for hands-on training.

The cosmetology department will merge classes for a professional experience in salon services. Rev. Oquaye also mentioned integrating Artificial Intelligence into all creative courses. This will help students become prompt engineers in the digital economy.

A new Design, Build, and Manage program will focus on architecture and property management. Rev. Oquaye noted that female enrollment has increased significantly through a partnership with WICA Foundation.

Female enrollment rose from 25% to 65% in just two years. He thanked donors and partners for their support in changing lives. He encouraged more individuals to help expand the college's impact.

Rev. Oquaye specifically thanked Berkha Africa for providing expert consultants as facilitators for business classes. Other sponsors included ATB Foundation, Fidelity Bank, HACSA Foundation, DTRT Appanel, Pishon Group, Kwori, Pecan Energies, Dr. Cynthia Mitchel, OHBM, Eleanor Johnson, UBUNTU Online Academy, and Ebony Elixir.

Gifty Anti from WICA encouraged students to honor donor investments by empowering others. Prince Ofosu Sefa urged students to use digital tools to enhance their businesses in the digital economy.
