TDC alleges irregular sale of community 24 lands to Ofori-Atta family associates

The Tema Development Company Limited (TDC) has made a significant discovery. Their preliminary investigations found that several land parcels in Tema Community 24 were sold to individuals linked to the Ofori-Atta family. This finding followed an internal review across TDC’s departments. The review revealed serious irregularities and prompted calls for an external investigation.

At a press conference on April 10, Managing Director Courage Makafui Nunekpeku shared these findings. He noted that records indicate land sales occurred during the tenure of his predecessor, Alice Abena Ofori-Atta. These sales involved people connected to the Ofori-Atta family. Nunekpeku stressed that the push for investigations is based on solid evidence, not speculation.

He stated, “Nothing will stop the investigations we’re going to do.” He added that only the sector minister or the President could halt them. “We will continue to do the land audit,” he said, ensuring accountability for stewardship.

Nunekpeku also raised concerns about concentrated land ownership within one family. He questioned how one family could own so much land in Ghana. “Every ten plots in layer T belong to an Ofori-Atta,” he pointed out. “These are facts; nobody can change it.”
