Alhassan Suhuyini, the MP for Tamale North, clarified Dr. Adam Atiku's dismissal. He stated it is not linked to a viral video involving hospital staff and the Health Minister. This clarification comes amid public speculation about the incident.
The video showed a tense exchange during an unannounced visit on April 22. Suhuyini explained that a three-member committee is investigating the matter. He emphasized that Dr. Atiku was not involved in the altercation.
The person in the video is a dedicated hospital worker, according to Suhuyini. He mentioned that both he and the Minister cautioned this worker about his comments regarding a recent death.
Suhuyini noted that Dr. Atiku's removal is part of broader reforms at TTH. The government aims to improve healthcare delivery in the Northern Region.
President John Dramani Mahama dismissed Dr. Atiku following reports of negligence. This negligence allegedly led to a patient's death in the Accident and Emergency Ward. Public outcry has grown over poor services and non-functional equipment at TTH.
However, the Minority Caucus criticized this dismissal as illegal and emotionally driven. They argue it violates administrative protocols related to such decisions.
