The Centre for Gender and Advocacy of Takoradi Technical University (CEGENDA) partnered with the Centre for Volunteerism and Social Transformation (CENVAST). Together, they celebrated Good Deeds Day 2025. They donated food items and toiletries to the Catholic Special Vocational School in Fijai, Sekondi.
Good Deeds Day is a global movement. It encourages people to do good for others. Since 2007, millions have participated from 115 countries. They volunteer to help vulnerable members of society.
The donation included bags of rice, drinks, soaps, and toiletries. George Dorgbetor, Executive Director of CENVAST, spoke about their fundraising efforts. They raised funds through the Plastic For Good Initiative.
This initiative encouraged people to collect plastic waste. The collected plastics were sold for recycling. The money raised was used to buy food and toiletries for the school.
Dorgbetor expressed joy in helping both the environment and students in need. He hopes to expand CENVAST's collaboration with TTU’s CEGENDA across the university. This will promote volunteerism among students and support advocacy programs.
Prof. Ann Doodo leads TTU’s CEGENDA. She emphasized that their partnership aligns with their mission to advocate for all groups, especially vulnerable ones. She aims to deepen this relationship with CENVAST.
Doodo highlighted the importance of inclusive education at TTU. The Catholic Special Vocational School serves many students with disabilities. Collaborating with CENVAST will enhance their advocacy efforts in communities.
Rose Margaret Kwofie is the headmistress of the school. She thanked CENVAST and CEGENDA for their generous support on Good Deeds Day 2025. Kwofie also appealed for additional support like washing machines and improved facilities.
The Catholic Special Vocational School focuses on students with special disabilities who need more resources and assistance.
