Rev Ntim Fordjour, the Assin South MP, has called for an investigation into Kwabena Adu-Boahene. Adu-Boahene is the former Director of the National Signals Bureau (NSB). He is accused of stealing GH¢49 million.
Fordjour described Adu-Boahene's claims as shocking and scary. He stated that this situation is a major National Security scandal. The taxpayer deserves a thorough and transparent investigation into these allegations.
In a post on X, Fordjour expressed his concerns. He mentioned several large sums of money linked to Adu-Boahene’s actions. These include GH¢8.3 million for the NDC during the 2024 election campaign and GH¢960,000 for Parliament's Defence and Interior Committee.
Adu-Boahene recently provided a breakdown of the alleged stolen funds through his legal team. He claimed that GH¢5.1 million was used to buy three vehicles for President John Mahama. This included two Nissan Patrols and one Land Cruiser.
He also alleged that GH¢960,000 was paid to members of Parliament to expedite legislation related to the NSB Act in 2020/21. Additionally, he claimed an opposition party received GH¢8.3 million for election results collation.
Adu-Boahene, along with his wife Angela Adjei-Boateng and two others, faces multiple charges from the state. These charges include stealing, defrauding by false pretenses, money laundering, and conspiracy.
The Attorney General filed 11 charges against them at the High Court in Accra. Adu-Boahene has been remanded in custody by an Accra High Court for seven working days. This will allow time for the Attorney General to prepare witness statements related to the case.
