The former Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Most Rev. Titus Awotwi-Pratt, has raised concerns about the indecent dressing of some teachers, emphasizing that educators’ appearance significantly influences students.
Speaking at the 4th Brew Sam-Creedy-Komeh Ababio Annual Memorial Lecture at Komenda College of Education, he urged teachers to set a good example in both attire and conduct. “The kind of dresses we see some teachers wearing these days does not reflect the dignity of the profession,” he stated.
He also condemned the rising trend of insults, particularly in politics, where young people openly disrespect elders. “Because of politics, you will see a young man or woman insulting someone who could even be their grandfather. This is unacceptable,” he stressed.
The event highlighted the legacy of Lawrence Alfred Creedy in teacher education. Speakers, including Prof. Akwasi Amoako-Gyampah and Central Regional Minister Eduamoah Okyere, called for selflessness, integrity, and improved sanitation.
