A 19-year-old illegal miner, Enoch Buamah, has been sentenced to three months of hard labour by the Tarkwa District Court One for stealing a bag of alligator pepper worth GH¢600.

Buamah pleaded guilty and sought leniency, but the court, presided over by Mr. Charles Owusu Nsiah, handed down the sentence.

According to Inspector Patrick Essien, the complainant, Fuseini Amadu, had dried the pepper at his farm cottage in Kofi Gyan.

While he was away on December 12, 2024, Buamah allegedly stole the produce, using a fertilizer bag to transport it.

A community announcement about the theft led to a tip-off, and Buamah was later caught with the stolen items.

He was arrested by the unit committee task force and handed over to the Aboso police.
