Telecel boosts Ghana’s development with major CSR drive

Telecel Group, a leading telecommunications provider, is committed to Ghana’s sustainable development. They focus on impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in digital skills education. This commitment is formalized through a partnership with the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations. It aligns with the national agenda set by President John Dramani Mahama.

Telecel has launched the Startocode program. This multilingual digital education platform offers affordable coding education to students worldwide. The platform has already helped thousands of students across Africa. It empowers them with essential skills for the digital economy.

Now, Telecel provides Startocode free to many Ghanaians who sign up for the One Million Coders Program (OMCP). This program aims to equip one million Ghanaians with vital digital skills for today’s economy. Launched by President Mahama in April 2025, OMCP supports large-scale education and training.

Telecel’s participation helps reach underserved and rural areas while maintaining quality standards. “We commend President Mahama for his visionary leadership,” said Moh Damush, Group CEO of Telecel Group. He added that providing Startocode free supports empowering youth with crucial digital skills.

Startocode offers flexible, self-paced learning along with mentorship and hands-on projects. Its multilingual features help overcome language barriers and reach diverse students across Ghana and beyond.

A joint signing ceremony will announce Telecel’s contributions and launch this initiative publicly. The Minister for Communication stated that this partnership marks a pivotal moment in bridging the digital divide in Ghana.

The One Million Coders Program aims to unlock potential and foster innovation among youth nationwide. “We are proud to collaborate with partners like Telecel,” the Minister said. This initiative brings world-class digital education within reach for all Ghanaians, especially in underserved communities.

Telecel Group looks forward to deepening its partnership with the Ghanaian Government and stakeholders. Their goal is long-term sustainable development through education and digital empowerment.
