The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications has raised alarms about the increasing incidents of fibre cuts damaging the nation's telecom infrastructure, reporting 5,133 cuts in the first half of 2024 alone.
This has cost the industry GH₵118 million in repairs, diverting funds from service improvements.
The Chamber criticized the impact of these disruptions on service quality and user experience, urging legal action against those responsible.
They are collaborating with various stakeholders to protect telecom infrastructure and launching a "Save Our Fibre" campaign to inform the public and hold culprits accountable.
