The Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), Dr. Nii Moi Thompson, has condemned the presence of television sets in government offices, calling them symbols of inefficiency and a distraction to productivity.
Speaking on Citi FM, Dr. Thompson shared his experience of ordering the removal of a TV in his office, emphasizing that government workers are paid to work, not watch television.
He recalled instances where staff were so engrossed in watching TV that he walked into a minister’s office unnoticed.
Dr. Thompson linked low productivity to low wages and called for strict reforms, warning that officials who ignore his directive to remove TVs from offices will face consequences.
His remarks have reignited debate on discipline and efficiency in the public sector.
