Tema Central MP Yves Niinoi Hanson-Nortey has denied reports alleging his eviction over insurance fraud, calling them false and an attempt to damage his reputation.
In a statement, he clarified that the allegations stem from events during his tenure as Managing Director of Apex Petroleum in 2018.
He explained that Apex Petroleum entered a partnership involving an insurance bond with Star Assurance, which failed to verify the collateral provided by a third party.
This oversight led to the loss of Apex’s operating license and a consent judgment in 2022 to pay GHC 10.5 million.
Recent investigations by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) revealed fraud linked to non-existent collateral, prompting Mr. Hanson-Nortey to challenge the judgment.
He accused Star Assurance of using media tactics to enforce the disputed ruling.
