Tema Central NDC grassroots push for Sedinam Matanawe as next MCE

A group of grassroots members from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Tema Central is urging President John Dramani Mahama to appoint Madam Sedinam Matanawe as the next Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tema.

They describe Madam Matanawe as a unifying leader. They believe she has deep insight into the constituency's social, political, religious, and economic landscape. The group argues her leadership would bring new development, especially for the youth.

“We believe her appointment will lead to transformational leadership,” they stated. “She understands the heartbeat of the constituency.”

Madam Matanawe was a parliamentary aspirant in 2012. Despite not winning, she remains active in party activities. Her dedication has earned her respect among local party members.

Benjamin Nyarko, an executive member of the group, made an appeal to the Tema Traditional Council. He urged them to prioritize competence over tribal lines when considering candidates for MCE.

“While we acknowledge their preference for an indigene, it’s important to note that Madam Matanawe is Ga-Dangme by heritage,” he said. “Her mother is from Tema Newtown. She is qualified and deeply rooted in the community.”

The group called on President Mahama and NDC leadership to listen to grassroots voices. They emphasized this is vital for unity, progress, and electoral success in Tema Central.
