Tensions are rising in the Talensi Constituency of the Upper East Region. A faction of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has rejected John Millim Naabwomya as District Chief Executive (DCE).
This group calls itself concerned and aggrieved members of the party. They demand that President John Mahama rescind Naabwomya’s appointment immediately.
At a press conference in Tongo on April 13, spokesperson Charles King Luu expressed dissatisfaction with the President’s choice. He cited Naabwomya’s alleged ties to the rival New Patriotic Party (NPP). Luu called this a betrayal of grassroots supporters.
“We cannot accept someone whose political loyalty is in question,” he stated. “His association with the NPP is well-known here.” He warned that this decision could split NDC's support base and harm their chances in the 2028 elections.
