Ebi Bright's Inclusion Sparks Tension in NDC
The alleged inclusion of Ebi Bright's name for the Tema MCE position is causing tension in the National Democratic Congress (NDC). This situation affects supporters in the Tema East and Central constituencies.
Reports indicate that NDC supporters are confused. Ebi Bright was not among the seven original applicants from Tema Central. Yet, her name appears on the final shortlist of three candidates.
The shortlisted candidates are Patience Ankamah Addi, Sedinam Matanawey, and Robert Kempes Ofosuware. Supporters believe Ebi Bright’s inclusion may be a way to compensate her for losing in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
This alleged move has angered party supporters. They question the credibility and honesty of the vetting committee.
In total, nineteen applicants applied for the MCE position. Twelve were from Tema East and seven from Tema Central. After vetting, only three candidates were shortlisted for final consideration by the President.
When contacted about these allegations, Robert Kempes Ofosuware said he had heard similar concerns. He could not confirm any details but acknowledged rising tensions among supporters.
Kempes urged calm within both constituencies' NDC members. He expressed curiosity about whether these allegations would prove true.
Attempts to reach Patience Ankamah Addi and Sedinam Matanawey were unsuccessful. Their phone numbers were unreachable during follow-up calls on April 13, 2025.
The Chronicle also tried to contact Ebi Bright via SMS and WhatsApp but received no response. Her phone was consistently busy when they called.
