The Chief Justice is undergoing a constitutional process – Hamza Suhuyini

Lawyer Hamza Sayibu Suhuyini is a member of the NDC communications team. He stated that the process to possibly remove the Chief Justice is legal. He believes it should not be called unconstitutional.

On JoyNews' AM Show, he discussed the Chief Justice’s suspension and court actions. Mr. Suhuyini emphasized that this matter is constitutional.

He said, “We are yet to be convinced that what the Chief Justice faces is unconstitutional.” He finds arguments from some lawyers about unfairness unconvincing. “I have read many letters from celebrated lawyers and disagree,” he noted.

Mr. Suhuyini insisted that the steps taken follow constitutional guidelines. He added, “The woman is going through a constitutional process, which has not been questioned.”

He also responded to claims about President John Mahama undermining the constitution. “If you claim President Mahama's actions undermine our Constitution, prove it,” he said.

Regarding the Chief Justice’s legal challenge in the Supreme Court, Suhuyini questioned if it was appropriate. “I wondered if we should question the Supreme Court's jurisdiction in this matter,” he stated.

He argued that if it's about fundamental human rights, it belongs in another court. “She discusses her fundamental human right; such issues belong in the High Court,” he explained.

Suhuyini urged for broader legal discussions on this issue. “We need to expand engagement to see if her case requires interpretation,” he said.
