The GAF must not only remain as a defensive institution but a symbol of national unity

President John Dramani Mahama has emphasized the need for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to evolve. He believes they should be more than just a defensive institution. They should also symbolize national unity.

He spoke at the inauguration of the new Ghana Armed Forces Council. President Mahama urged council members to commit to their roles. He asked them to have a clear vision for the military's future.

“As we move forward, let us work together,” he said. “We must build a stronger, modern, and resilient GAF.”

Addressing the newly sworn-in members, he highlighted their dedication. He stressed that they must embrace their responsibilities with clarity.

“Our military should be a symbol of unity, excellence, pride, and progress,” he stated.

He concluded with a call to action: “Together, we can shape our armed forces' future for generations.”
