The Minority politicizes every arrest – Kwesi Pratt

Kwesi Pratt has criticized the opposition Minority in Parliament. He believes they politicize every arrest and legal issue. This behavior could erode public trust in national institutions.

The veteran journalist is concerned about the Minority's reactions to recent arrests. These cases involve allegations of corruption and misconduct.

Pratt stated, “The posture of the Minority is to politicize every arrest.” He made these remarks on Metro TV, as reported by MyNewsGH.

He referenced a former Bank of Ghana governor's case. The Minority claimed that official vehicles were seized from him. Pratt questioned this claim, asking, “What were official vehicles doing in a former governor’s house?”

He added, “If those vehicles had been sold to him, they cease to be official vehicles.”

Pratt also addressed Attorney General Godfred Dame’s warning. The Attorney General suggested he might release a recording involving the former governor. This would happen if the Minority continued their stance.

Pratt said, “I don’t know what’s on that recording.” He noted that it might embarrass the governor based on the Attorney General's tone. He asked if the Minority was willing to risk such embarrassment.

While emphasizing fair treatment for accused persons, Pratt insisted on responsible commentary from the Minority. He stated, “We all have a responsibility to ensure rights are not violated.”

However, he expressed frustration with how far the Minority goes sometimes: “Jesus Christ of Nazareth!”
