The Multimedia Group Limited visited the Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, Hon. Seidu Issifu. This visit was in collaboration with the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN).
Kwaku Owusu-Peprah, Channel Manager of Joy Brands, led the delegation. Prince Ansah, CDKN's Country Engagement Lead, also joined him.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen partnerships against climate change. They aimed to promote climate information dissemination and build on their existing relationship.
During the meeting, Evans Mensah, Senior News Editor from JoyNews, spoke about media's role in climate change mitigation. He emphasized that media-government collaboration is a powerful strategy.
“As journalists, we see the impact of climate change firsthand,” he said. “It is our responsibility to tell these stories.”
Prince Ansah shared upcoming initiatives to support the Ministry’s efforts. He mentioned plans to engage both climate scientists and media professionals in climate action.
“We are assembling experts nationwide to share accurate climate change stories,” he explained.
Minister Seidu Issifu welcomed the delegation warmly. He outlined the Ministry’s strategic priorities during their discussion.
He highlighted the establishment of a Climate Change and Sustainability Hub. This hub will serve as a platform for sharing innovative solutions among activists.
“This hub will focus on capacity building and public awareness,” he stated. It will also provide training for SMEs in green businesses and conduct research.
This meeting marks an important step toward collaborative climate action in Ghana. With media, development organizations, and government working together, impactful strides can be made.
The partnership between Multimedia Group, CDKN, and the Ministry sets a promising precedent for future efforts against climate challenges.
