Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the minority leader in parliament, has made strong claims. He says the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has created two Ghanas in just 120 days.
Afenyo-Markin believes there is a Ghana for the NDC and another for their perceived enemies. He described the first 120 days of the NDC-led Mahama administration as disappointing and regrettable.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Citi FM, he stated, “For me, it’s 120 days of disappointment and regret.” He added that the NDC has divided Ghana into two parts: one for them and one for others.
He criticized the NDC's decision to terminate employment for many Ghanaians. When they took office, they dismissed workers from state institutions. The Chief of Staff's letter suggested dismissing those hired after December 7 elections if there were irregularities. Afenyo-Markin found this approach defective and noted a mass dismissal occurred.
He also pointed out that teachers and nurses faced similar issues. Haruna Iddrisu had promised to validate teachers' positions, but no evidence shows those dismissed have been reinstated.
Afenyo-Markin further criticized the NDC's economic promises. He highlighted their pledge of a high-profile 24-hour economy as unfulfilled. The Mahama government has not delivered jobs under their "one job, three shifts" plan.
“They claimed they would implement a ‘one-three-three’ model,” he said. This model was supposed to create an enabling environment for private sector growth through incentives. However, Afenyo-Markin sees a complete lack of policy direction for the private sector today.
