The media isn’t as neutral as it seems— Mark Okraku-Mantey laments

Mark Okraku-Mantey has expressed concerns about journalists entering politics. He believes this trend contradicts their claims of neutrality.

On Joy FM, he congratulated those taking political positions. However, he quickly shifted his focus to media neutrality.

He stated, “The media today is not as neutral as it seems.” He pointed out that some media personalities are now in government roles.

Okraku-Mantey did not name specific individuals but noted the mixed reactions to these appointments. He mentioned that some former journalists claimed they were neutral while transitioning into politics.

He referenced Kojo Oppong Nkrumah as an example. “Oppong Nkrumah left Joy FM for years,” he said.

“He focused on private business before entering politics.”

In contrast, he observed that some current journalists leave their jobs and quickly take up political roles.

“This is a topic for another day,” he hinted, suggesting he will revisit the issue later.
