The more you reply, the more the President might wonder if you lied on your CV – Netizen fires Sam George

Samuel Yeboah, founder of Tech in Twi, criticized Minister Sam Nartey George. He spoke out about the high cost of data in Ghana.

On X, Yeboah said that every time Sam George speaks, it raises questions. He suggested President Mahama might wonder if George lied on his CV.

Sam George responded on X. He acknowledged the enthusiasm for advocacy but emphasized facts. He explained that only the Finance Minister can remove taxes or tariffs affecting revenue.

George stated that until the Finance Minister approves changes, nothing will happen. He expressed hope for discussions with the Finance and Energy Ministers to address data prices.

In response, Yeboah accused George of contradicting himself. He reminded George that he previously criticized a former minister for regulatory tariffs. Now, as a minister, George claims only Parliament can reverse these decisions.

Yeboah warned that more replies from George could raise doubts about his honesty. He urged immediate action to make data prices affordable for Ghanaians.

Meanwhile, Sam Nartey George announced plans to reduce data prices by year-end. Following President Mahama's instructions, discussions with stakeholders have begun.

During his vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee, he mentioned working on cost elements like electricity. He hopes to see lower data prices soon.

In an interview with TV3, he clarified he cannot set data prices directly. Instead, he will use policies to ensure affordability for Ghanaians.
