There's nothing wrong with Godfred Dame representing CJ Torkonoo - Former Deputy AG

Former Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah spoke on JoyNews’ Newsfile. He discussed Godfred Yeboah Dame representing suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo in court.

Mr. Tuah-Yeboah stated there is nothing wrong with this arrangement. Since leaving office, Mr. Dame has become a private legal practitioner. He has the right to take on legal briefs.

Once Mr. Dame stopped being Attorney General, he could practice law freely. He can represent any clients he chooses, including the Chief Justice.

“The Chief Justice has the right to choose her counsel,” Mr. Tuah-Yeboah said. If she trusts Mr. Dame’s ability, it is appropriate for her to hire him.

His comments respond to concerns about Mr. Dame’s involvement in the case. He emphasized that legal representation is a personal choice within the law's bounds.
