Courage Kafui Nunekpeku, the Managing Director of TDC Ghana Limited, has called on the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to launch investigations into alleged misconduct within the company.
Speaking at a staff meeting, Mr. Nunekpeku revealed that after a thorough assessment across all departments, he found concerning issues warranting further scrutiny.
He disclosed that two letters had already been sent to EOCO, one concerning a $1 million contract in the IT department, where the company has no access to the software procured.
The second letter, relating to another matter, remains confidential for now.
In a bold move toward transparency, the MD announced plans for comprehensive land and property audits to verify initial findings about TDC’s land holdings.
He encouraged employees with knowledge of past misdeeds to come forward voluntarily, warning that those who wait to be implicated in investigations would not be spared.
“It doesn’t matter how long you’ve worked here—everyone has a fresh opportunity to do right,” he stated.
In a shift away from luxury spending, Mr. Nunekpeku said TDC will not purchase new vehicles for management.
Instead, the company will invest in operational equipment including Urvan buses, a backhoe, a dumper, and a tipper truck to boost service delivery.
He stressed the need for teamwork and intentional efforts to elevate TDC, pointing to thriving private estate companies as a benchmark. With TDC’s vast assets and state backing, he believes the company can achieve global standards—if it avoids complacency and corruption.
Quoting recent directives from the presidency, Mr. Nunekpeku noted that TDC must prove its efficiency or risk being merged with entities like the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) or the State Housing Corporation.
“I’ve seen things in this short period that are disturbing,” the MD said. “I come from the private sector, and I scrutinize every detail before giving approval.”
He concluded with a strong appeal for integrity, urging all staff to safeguard public assets and remain vigilant against fraudulent activities.
