There’s no dumsor, just localised faults – Energy Ministry

Isaac Agyei Kwakye, the Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, has denied the return of "dumsor." He attributed recent power outages to isolated issues, like faulty cables. This clarification comes after many Ghanaians complained about erratic power supply.

Kwakye spoke on Channel One TV's Breakfast Daily on April 28. He emphasized that these outages are not part of a broader "dumsor" situation. He explained that problems such as faulty cables are being addressed.

He provided examples of localized outages. Recently, there were issues at Coco Beach and parts of Nungua. These incidents show that the problems are specific and not widespread.

"There is no 'dumsor'," he stated firmly. He added that he lives in Madina and rarely experiences power cuts. This indicates that the cables in his area are functioning well.

"If a cable is faulty, it needs repair," he said. He reiterated that recent outages do not indicate a generation crisis. The ministry is committed to ensuring stable power through regular meetings with stakeholders.
