Nana Akomea, the former Managing Director of InterCity STC, has denied claims made by Alhaji Nurudeen Hamdan.
Hamdan, the Deputy Managing Director of STC, accused Akomea of unlawfully selling STC lands. He claimed that Akomea sold these lands to members of the NPP.
Akomea strongly refuted these allegations. He stated there is no truth in Hamdan's claims. He emphasized that he never sold STC land to party members or supporters.
Akomea explained that he inherited a situation where some STC lands were already sold. For example, land in Takoradi was used to build a MELCOM shop.
During an interview on Peace FM's Kokrokoo show, he said, “There’s no iota of truth in it.” He also mentioned that if he wanted to sue Hamdan, it would not be worth it financially.
He pointed out that others had sold STC lands before him. In 2010, four acres at the head office were sold to BCM and another four acres to Melcom.
Meanwhile, Inter-city STC Coaches Limited is working to reclaim its properties from encroachers. The company is involved in legal battles over portions of its land.
This issue is particularly serious in the Ashanti Region. Two-thirds of STC’s 22 acres in Oforikrom Municipality have been encroached upon.
Hamdan stated that management will handle this situation carefully and humanely. They aim for Ghanaians to benefit from any resolutions made regarding the land.
He added that their approach will be proactive and involve identifying problems early on. However, final decisions will depend on government advice and support.
