There shall never be any excuse whatsoever when you cross the line – Chief of Staff warns appointees

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has issued a warning to government appointees. He stated there will be no excuses for crossing the line.

Debrah emphasized that appointees must follow the new Code of Conduct. This Code was introduced by President John Dramani Mahama. He warned that any breaches will not be tolerated.

At the launch on May 5, 2025, Debrah compared governance to running a boarding school. He said there need to be rules and regulations in place.

He encouraged everyone to study the Code like it is their Bible. “There shall never be any excuse when you cross the line,” he added.

Debrah also mentioned that reaching the president would be difficult if someone is about to be removed. He noted that even if someone tries to contact the president through others, it won’t work.

He expressed hope that no one would have to face removal from their position. However, he reminded them that ignorance is not an excuse.

Meanwhile, President Mahama announced at the launch that all gifts over GHC20,000 must be declared. He also stated that public funds cannot be used for gifts or hampers.
