‘They face live TV cameras, but not justice’ – Avedzi on lack PAC of prosecution

Former Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman, James Klutse Avedzi, has criticized the lack of consequences for public officials who face the committee over financial mismanagement.

Speaking on PM Express Business Edition, he noted that while individuals fear the scrutiny of live televised hearings, they ultimately walk free as PAC lacks prosecutorial power.

Avedzi revealed that despite forwarding multiple cases to the Attorney General, prosecutions are either delayed or never happen.

He stressed that real accountability will only come when culprits face legal action and punishment.

While some cases, like the Sky Train project, are now under review, he warned that without enforcement, financial misconduct will persist as officials remain emboldened by the system’s inaction.
