They took out E-levy and brought E-levy Pro Max - Alhasan Tampuli reacts to 'Dumsor Levy'

Alhassan Tampuli, MP for Gushegu and former Deputy Transport Minister, criticized the NDC government. He spoke about the new “Dumsor Levy” on JoyFM’s Super Morning Show.

Tampuli compared it to a repackaged version of the Electronic Levy (E-Levy). He accused the government of breaking its campaign promises regarding taxes.

The current administration had promised to remove "nuisance taxes." These included the E-Levy, Betting Tax, and Emissions Levy.

Tampuli argued that the Dumsor Levy imposes a heavier financial burden. He stated it exceeds the combined impact of those previous taxes.

“This government promised to remove nuisance taxes,” he said. “They took out E-Levy and brought E-Levy Pro Max.”

He used "Pro Max" to suggest that this new levy is harsher than before. The Dumsor Levy charges GH¢1 on every litre of fuel purchased.

Critics argue that this levy is regressive. It will severely impact transport operators and ordinary Ghanaians amid economic challenges.
