Ghanaian journalist Gary Al-Smith has commented on a viral video. The video shows Sammy Gyamfi giving cash to Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng, known as Nana Agradaa. Al-Smith believes this situation is crucial for President John Dramani Mahama’s credibility.
In a Facebook post, Al-Smith stated that the President's response will reflect his new Code of Conduct. This code emphasizes integrity, transparency, and ethical behavior among public officials. He wrote, “Fate has decided to check if JM is serious about his Code of Conduct just a week after he put it out.”
Al-Smith warned that the President’s goodwill is at risk. He urged Mahama not to repeat mistakes made by former President Nana Akufo-Addo. According to Al-Smith, Akufo-Addo prioritized party loyalty over public sentiment and lost trust.
He referred to Sammy Gyamfi as an “NDC darling boy.” Al-Smith stressed that Mahama must choose what is right over what is easy. He highlighted the importance of perception in political leadership.
In closing, Al-Smith shared a personal reflection on the scandal. He noted that embarrassment can happen unexpectedly: “On a personal level, this is another reminder for me that, indeed, yawa no get timetable.”
