This is not law, this is politics – Afoakwah criticises deputy AG

Enoch Afoakwah, a member of Bernard Antwi Boasiako’s legal team, criticized Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem Sai. He accused Srem Sai of political interference and misrepresentation in the case involving Chairman Wontumi.

Afoakwah spoke on AsaasePa 107.3 FM’s Atumpan show, hosted by Bonohene Baffour-Awuah. He expressed surprise at Srem Sai's claims that Wontumi is under investigation for fraud and money laundering.

“I don’t want to believe Dr Justice Srem Sai wrote this,” Afoakwah said. He added that it seemed like political interference. As Deputy AG, he should be well-informed before making serious public claims.

Afoakwah argued that the Deputy Attorney General's statements lacked legal basis. He suggested they were politically motivated and prejudicial.

“It’s either he wasn’t properly briefed by the CID or he is trying to gain political advantage,” Afoakwah stated. He called the Deputy AG’s actions a dangerous deviation from due process.

“This is not law at play; this is raw political maneuvering,” he asserted. He claimed Wontumi has been denied his basic rights. Afoakwah urged all Ghanaians to speak out against this abuse.

Justice Srem Sai had previously revealed that Wontumi faces two investigations. One involves suspected financial crimes, while the other relates to an international organized crime network with foreign law enforcement agencies.
