Three dead, two injured in truck collision at Akyem Asafo

Three people are confirmed dead after a road accident in Akyem Asafo. Two others were seriously injured in the crash involving three trucks.

The accident happened early on Monday, May 12. It occurred along the Accra-Kumasi highway, a busy route known for heavy traffic.

Eyewitnesses report that a Scania truck collided with a stationary DAF trailer. The DAF was loaded with cocoa beans and had broken down in the road. A Howo tipper truck also became involved in the crash.

The collision was devastating. It instantly killed the Scania driver and two female passengers, believed to be traders.

Emergency personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service responded quickly. They were supported by teams from Suhum command, MTTD, and the Ghana National Ambulance Service. They conducted rescue operations and managed traffic at the scene.

Injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The bodies of those who died have been sent to Suhum Government Hospital morgue for preservation and identification.

The police have started an investigation into the accident's cause. They will determine if negligence contributed to this tragic crash.
