Thunderstorms expected in several parts of Ghana today – GMET warns

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMET) has issued a weather alert. Thunderstorms and rainfall are likely across the country today, Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

Misty conditions are expected in the morning. This will affect visibility in forested and mountainous areas. Travelers should be cautious during early morning hours.

Thunderstorms with rain are forecast for coastal and some inland areas. These storms may occur in the morning and afternoon. Later, thunderstorms may also hit parts of the middle and transition zones from late afternoon to evening.

Some northern areas might experience thunderstorms in the evening as well.

Temperatures will be high across the country today. The northern sector could reach up to 41°C. The transition zone may see temperatures up to 36°C. The forest zone is expected to reach 35°C, while the coastal zone will be around 33°C. Minimum temperatures will range from 23°C to 25°C.

GMET advises the public to take precautions today. Areas with strong winds and heavy rainfall need special attention. Commuters and motorists should exercise caution due to reduced visibility from mist and rain.
