Thunderstorms expected today in Accra, Tamale, and other parts of Ghana

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather warning.

Thunderstorms and rainfall are possible in many areas today. This is especially true during the afternoon and evening.

In the early morning, mist or fog may develop. This will occur in coastal, mountainous, and forested regions.

As the day goes on, skies will become partly cloudy and sunny. However, isolated thunderstorms or rain showers may still happen.

Coastal cities like Accra, Kasoa, Cape Coast, and Takoradi will see morning mist. These areas may also have a 30 to 60 percent chance of thunderstorms later. Temperatures will range from 24°C to 32°C.

In the middle and transitional zones—such as Koforidua, Goaso, Sunyani, Techiman, and Kintampo—morning mist is expected too. Sunny intervals will follow with possible rain or thunderstorms in the afternoon. Temperatures here could reach up to 33°C.

The northern regions of Ghana include Tamale, Yendi, Bolgatanga, Wa, and Bole. These areas are forecasted to have partly cloudy to sunny weather today. There is a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms later on. Maximum temperatures could rise to 38°C in some northern cities.

GMet advises residents in flood-prone areas to take precautions against heavy rains.

The agency continues to monitor weather patterns closely. Citizens should stay updated through GMet's official channels for any changes in the forecast.
